Main Task: Feedback on Cover Page, Contents Page and Double Page Spread

Feedback on Cover Page

Feedback 1

Positive: The feedback I received about my cover page is that the background looks professional as it isn’t one blocked colour so it follows conventions. This is good because it attracts the audience.

Negative: The editing around my image could be improved and more careful so that it looks better and more professional. This would look better because it won’t be edged around the hair.

Feedback 2

Positive: Another good piece of feedback I received was about the font colours. I was told that the way I have used blonde colours from my models hair gives a good effect and that it all links in and follows conventions.

Negative: Another bit of feedback for what I could improve on is a mixture of colours, although they all link in, there is a wide range of colours.

Feedback 3

Positive: I was told my magazine cover is good because I have developed conventions and used a kicker and the banner at the bottom which I was told makes my magazine stand out and makes it unique.34

Negative: I was given advice on my cover page that the issue number and the date is a problem to read with the gradient of the background at the top.

Feedback on Contents Page

Feedback 1

Positive: The way I have followed conventions of real existing magazine by separating the different categories in the magazine is very good, how it is clear and easy to understand where each story is because it is in different coloured boxes with a different colour title. Expanding on this, I was told it is good how I have linked the main cover story with my ‘On The Cover’ title, using the same colour along with the same colour on the banner at the side so it attracts the target audience.

Negative: I received negative feedback that there is a bit of dead space on the black box section so to prevent this maybe change the colour of the box so that it doesn’t look so bold.

Feedback 2

Positive: A good thing about my contents page is the layout of it. How it is simple and appealing to the target audience as it is easy to read and is understanding. I was told it is good because I have separated the text from the images, but it looks very sophisticated and balanced out.

Negative: The negative problem of my contents page is that there is a lot of colour and different shades, however they are flat colours and aren’t very vibrant so I was told it could appeal more to my target audience if they weren’t as dull.

Feedback 3

Positive: My contents page is very good because it follows conventions and looks professional because I have used a clear font so it is easy to read, and that the colours work well together so it all links in well and is easy to navigate around it. So I was told it would appeal to them as a target audience. Also because all of the text is in white it follows conventions of one colour, but I have made it unique and developed the conventions by making the main double page spread story the same colour so it stands out.

Negative: A negative point of my contents page is that the images I have used could be bigger to prevent dead space and that they are on a dark background so they stand out more which makes it easy to see where the space could be filled.

Feedback on Double Page Spread

Feedback 1
Positive: I was told that my double page spread is good because of the way I have revealed the models “Darkest Days” and she is wearing a dark top so it emphasises the seriousness and the effects it has on her life so it all follows conventions and links in together.

Negative: The negative side on my double page spread is that the title of my magazine overlaps the image at the top and makes it slightly hard to read, also that on my other parts of the magazine, I have developed conventions by not overlapping any text with images.

Feedback 2

Positive: My double page spread is good because the way I have situated the title, how I have made it clear by introducing the person my cover story is talking about in big, bold writing, how it then changes colour to a quote of her, and then it makes the ‘darkest’ stand out. Also how I have added a tagline to the title so that it makes the audience want to read the article.

Negative: The negative part is the picture editing, how I should of took more time going around the models hair so that it looks professional and doesn’t look like bits are cut off.

Feedback 3

Positive: How I have lay out my double page spread is good because it is clear who the interview is with, it gives an idea of what it is about, and it is very clear to read each question and response as they are different colours to the question. (Writing in Black for the question, answer/response in pink) From this it links in to all of the tasks by following the same house style throughout so it is clear to the magazine and looks conventional.

Negative: Another negative about my magazine is the pink writing on the purple colour background could be hard to read for some people as the colours clash with both being dull similar colours so it could potentially make the audience not want to read it.
